SaleHoo Review

Looking for an unbiased SaleHoo review? Tired of other reviews wasting your time just to tell you what you don’t want to hear? If you’re ready to see the good, the bad, and the ugly about this service, you’re in the right place.

Before you learn to walk, you have to crawl. Let’s start with the basics first.

The company was launched in 2005. Today, their directory has over 1.6 million products and 8,000 suppliers. So you’ll be able to find almost anything, from electronics to sporting goods.

So, is SaleHoo legit and worth the yearly cost? Let’s find out…

Is SaleHoo legit?

If you do a quick Google search, you’ll be able to find reviews that praise the service, saying it’s the best thing out there. You’ll also find ex-customers saying that the service isn’t legit by any means. It becomes confusing, I know. I was once in your shoes.

You really don’t know if the service is going to work until you try it yourself.

Okay, so over 100,000 individuals and businesses are using SaleHoo’s service to find products to sell online. From someone new looking in, that would tell me one thing, it’s probably legit. I mean why would all these people use the service if it didn’t work?

I’ve used the service, so I know it works and I know it’s not a rip-off. I also know that their service isn’t for everyone. It’s not easy. It’s not a “get rich quick scheme.” You won’t become a millionaire, but you’ll be your own boss.

Here are some of the testimonials I found on SaleHoo from people that actually used the service:

How does SaleHoo work?

Whether you think the service is for you or not, it’s important to understand what the service is all about and how it works. I know I don’t like paying for something I know nothing about.

SaleHoo is an online wholesale directory that connects you to hundreds of wholesalers, drop shippers, and manufacturers. They also offer various resources on building relationships and dealing with suppliers.

SaleHoo verifies each supplier prior to listing them in their directory. Once you find a supplier you’re willing to work with, you’ll be able to contact them and make your first order. You’ll be able to see various statistics for each supplier as well (things like shipping timeframes, minimum order, etc.).

That’s the gist of it.

My personal experience with SaleHoo

I wouldn’t be writing this review if I didn’t use their service at some point. It wouldn’t be fair to you.

For the ones that don’t know me that well, I sold a lot of products on eBay, Amazon, and (formerly In the beginning, I had trouble finding products to sell and barely ever made a solid profit I could be proud of. It was nearly impossible. I was even scammed a few times and lost thousands of dollars.

I was determined that I could make this work.

Most of the time, I would find clearance items at local retail chains and try to resell them online. After all of the fees, I made little to no profit. I wanted more. That’s when I saw someone recommending SaleHoo on Amazon’s community forums. I decided to join and this is when my life changed dramatically (in a good way).

It took me a couple of hours to figure out how things work on their platform. Once I got the hang of things, I started looking for products that I can resell for profit. I did a lot of research before I made my first order.

I was able to find a couple of products that I was interested in and most importantly, thought would yield me a good profit. The good thing was that I never had to see the products I was selling. The drop shipper did all of the work for me.

I was able to dump eBay and Amazon by creating my own online store using one of the top ecommerce platforms.

Can I make a profit?

Unless you’re a non-for-profit agency, you’re in business to make money. As long as you have products, you’ll be able to sell them online. However, it’s not as easy as it may sound. Competition is always getting in the way.

They give you all of the tools you need to source products and resell them for a profit. Profits vary based on the niche you target and the level of competition. Their wholesale directory connects to 1.6 million products and 8,000 suppliers. So, it’s possible to make a decent profit.

Here are some products that have high profit margins (I personally sold the two-wheel electric scooter with good results):

It’s important to understand that there may be drop shipping fees that suppliers charge. So be sure to factor all of that in before calculating your profit margins.

I recommend using Google AdWords and Bing AdCenter to do your research and configure your campaigns. These tools are good for determining how many people search for a particular product or keyword. In addition, they can give you some insight on the competition as well.

Support and resources

Salehoo offers human support that’s available via phone and email during their normal business hours, 5:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. EDT on weekdays. You can reach them via phone by calling 1.800.322.7952. Other resources include a market research lab, seller training center, community forum, and an ecommerce blog.

Their customer support isn’t the best, but it’s good. They’ll point you in the right direction, but won’t do all the dirty work for you.

For example, I was interested in selling video games, so I contacted their support staff for some assistance. The staff member directed me to several suppliers and even gave me ideas on increasing my video game sales. Keep in mind that they could have told me to do this on my own as they give you all of the tools to do so. I thought it was a nice gesture that saved me a lot of time.

Pricing and fees

Salehoo offers two different services, a wholesale directory and an online store builder for ecommerce. Each service has its own membership fee:

  • Wholesale Directory – This directory features over 1.6 million products from 8,000 suppliers and costs $67/year.
  • Online Store Builder – You can use this to create an online store, but you won’t have access to the directory with this option. Plans range from $27/month to $97/month.

At this time, they don’t offer a free trial period. They do offer a 60-day money back guarantee in the event that you don’t think their service is for you. They accept all major credit cards and PayPal. To get started, you’ll have to go to their website and sign up:

How do I cancel my SaleHoo account?

If their service isn’t for you or you simply can’t find products to sell, you can cancel your membership by calling or emailing their customer support team.

Your purchase is covered by their 60-day money-back guarantee. If you cancel within the first 60 days, you’ll be eligible to receive a full refund. All they ask for is your receipt number that you get at the time of your purchase. But I’m pretty confident that they’ll be able to look it up if you happen to lose that number.

SaleHoo pros
  • You’ll get access to 1.6 million products from 8,000 different suppliers.
  • Other than the recurring membership fee, you won’t have any other startup costs.
  • All of the suppliers in the directory undergo a strict verification process.
  • You’ll get access to their research lab that has the necessary tools to help you sell more.
  • Your membership is covered by their 60-day money back guarantee.
SaleHoo cons
  • Advanced search capabilities are almost non-existent. For example, you don’t have the option to search for a supplier from a specific location (such as Canada, United States, etc.). You can’t find suppliers that ship during a specified timeframe. For now, you’d have to contact the supplier to find this information.
  • You can’t make a profit on every single product. Certain products are cheaper on Amazon.
  • If you have a lot of time on your hands, you can find suppliers on your own on Google for free.
Is SaleHoo worth the investment?

Finding legitimate products to sell online is difficult regardless of which route you decide to take. I’ve tried importing from China and never had much success. I’ve lost thousands of dollars.

SaleHoo isn’t free. However, their service eliminates a lot of the risk and helps you establish relationships with your suppliers.

Salehoo is definitely amongst the best when it comes to sourcing wholesale products for resale. With over one million products and eight thousand suppliers in the directory, you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for. You’ll find that the $67/year membership fee will quickly pay for itself.

It’s not a perfect solution and not everyone is going to benefit from their directory.

If you’re new to selling products, I’d recommend using a service like Salehoo as it helps you get started. If you have a lot of time on your hands and aren’t afraid of being scammed, than you might not need Salehoo.
